Walleye fishing charters Lake Erie Western Basin

Travel to fish for Walleye on Lake Erie, Western Basin, Central Basin. Try minnows, night crawlers and leeches comprise the three main lures for walleyes at Lake Erie.

Experienced walleye fishermen should bring all three, Lake Erie walleyes will bite on these baits most of the time One of the best producing baits on Lake Erie is the Erie Dearie.

The Erie Dearie or Original Erie Dearie walleye lure  should be tipped with a live worm most fishermen have luck catching walleye with this bait.

The size of the Erie Dearie you use depends on water depth and drift speed of your boat. When a trailer on the lure make sure your night crawlers or worms that are alive and active.
Keep the worms alive and fresh in a cool area out of the sun. Stuff wet paper on top of the worms and put the carton in a cooler or refrigerator.

The worms absorb the moisture, which makes them fatter, lively and more enticing to Lake Erie walleyes. Tipping your walleye lures with live bait is a great combination for walleyes with the scent and action of a real night crawler.

Fishing with a jig tipped with a minnow, leech or a whole worm takes walleyes in just about every lake or river. If you have a fish finder to locate the walleyes and to see the depth of the water is also a big help. Another way is to watch where the other walleye fishermen are fishing and drift along with them. Drift fishing Lake Erie for walleye is the best way to have good luck when fishing.

These steps required to get a walleye to see their bait and potentially bite. Walleye fisherman need to stay informed on what baits and speed is necessary to catch them. The diet of walleye shifts very rapidly depending on what is available for them to eat. Some walleye spinner rigs will use two hooks that way a worm or other live bait has a hook in its middle part for short striking walleyes.

Drifting the Erie Dearie slowly keeping the fishing line tight works great for schools of walleye. If you are drifting to fast you can put a couple buckets over the side of the boat and they will slow the drift. Many fishermen have done this many times it will keep the walleye bait deeper.
When using minnows to catch walleye It is better not to use big minnows. One and a half to two inches work best. You can still catch many Walleye without the minnow or crawler but it dose work better when the fish are being picky.

   Lake Erie Walleye recipe:
• 2 lb. walleye fillets
• 1/3 c. chopped green onion
• 1/4 lb. mushrooms, sliced (1 cup)
• 1 tsp. salt
• 1/4 tsp. fresh ground white pepper
• 1 tsp. leaf marjoram, crumbled
• 2 Tbsp. dry white wine
• 2 tsp. lemon juice
• 1/4 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese or mild Cheddar
• 1/4 c. fresh bread crumbs
• 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted
• 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley

Butter a baking dish, large enough so fish just slightly overlaps. Preheat oven to 400 F. Spread green onions and mushrooms over the bottom of the dish and place fish over top. Season with salt, pepper and marjoram. Sprinkle with wine, lemon juice, cheese and bread crumbs. Drizzle melted butter over the crumbs. Bake for 4 minutes, then loosely place foil over fillets; do not seal the edges. Bake an additional 7 minutes or until fish is done.

Polarized Sunglasses when fishing or boating

If you wear polarized sunglasses while fishing you will definitely catch more fish especially bass. In rivers and streams it is very important to use polarized sunglasses. Polarized Sunglasses cut through the glare created by the sun and allow you to see into the water. You can see under water structure like logs, rocks, and tree limbs. This gives you a better chance as a bass fisherman. When it comes to polarized sunglasses buy a good pair it is best to buy real glass lenses .

If you buy cheap sunglasses they can cause eye strain and the plastic polarized lenses will break. Do not make this mistake trying to save a few bucks, good polarized sunglasses are the way to go.  Whether you spend your time fishing, or boating, snow skiing  polarized sunglasses are a great purchase. Real polarized sunglasses will come with a tag on the lenses that they are polarized. Light reflected from the water surfaces or smooth water is horizontally polarized.

This horizontally polarized light is blocked by the vertically oriented polarizer in the lenses. The glare from the water produces eyestrain, and can caused you to squint which can lead to a headache. Regular sunglass tinting alone can not cure this problem of glare from the water's surface.

Polarized sunglasses  absorb the reflected glare and pass the safer light to your eyes which helps you see more fish and structure under the surface. You should use bands to slide on the sunglasses so you don't loose them over board.

Fishermen when they first start bass fishing without polarized lenses can not make out the structure under the water's surface. When they start using polarized sunglasses and they cannot believe the difference. When they start wearing the Ray ban polarized sunglasses they could actually see the bass under the water. They can make out the bass swimming near rocks or trees that were under the surface of the water.
